If you don’t know what a cat cafe is, get ready to be very excited! It, like its name implies, is a cafe full of cats. Not feral ones, but ones that want to be your friend! You can sit back, relax, and scratch a kitty behind the ears, all while enjoying food from a local restaurant, which has yet to be named. Eater Boston is reporting that the cat cafe will become a reality, probably in Brighton, and will be called PURR. There is no set date yet, but it WILL be happening, so get ready!

Per Eater Boston:

Diane Kelly has spent the last year building up plans for PURR and already has more than 700 followers on Facebook. Her concept involves a partnership with a local cat shelter. Patrons will pay to visit the cafe, where the cats will live and will be up for adoption.

Kelly will not make any food or drinks at PURR but will forge a partnership with a local bakery or restaurant, she told Eater in an email. “Runners” will pick up and deliver the food to patrons of the cat cafe. Kelly is working to secure a location and has two possibilities in the pipeline, one in Boston and one in Cambridge.

Kelly will also host a variety of events at PURR,  including “paint and sip nights, yoga, movie nights, speed dating, cat welfare lectures, etc.,” she told Eater, and she will set aside times where she will offer free visits to PURR for groups such as senior citizens, autistic children, family members of critically ill patients that are staying in Boston Hospitals, and more.

What do you think? Will Boston embrace a feline cafe with open arms and lots of petting? I think so, and look for me at PURR when it opens to talk cats and real estate!
